  4. Invite more guests to your party. Go into the neighborhood view and type in intprop maxnumofvisitingsims(number). So if you want 15 Sims, you would put "intprop maxnumofvisitingsims15".
  5. Set the age group of your Sims. Use the boolprop cheat. Hold down the "Shift" key and click on any Sim. Choose "Spawn", "More", and "Sim Modder". A baby should pop-up. Click on the baby and click "Set Age". It will give you the option of toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder.
    • If you turn a pregnant adult sim into anything but an adult, they will no longer be pregnant. To get a pregnant teenager, you must download the hack.
  6. To get the Grim Reaper Statue, go into buy mode or pause and and press ctrl,Shift,C. Type in "MoveObjects on" without the " (It is also case sensitive) into the cheat menu. Kill one of your sims that you don't want. If you have a sim that you want to keep, make sure that there is someone very close to them that can plea to the grim reaper. As soon as you see the grim reaper, go To buy mode and pick him up. Pick him up and hold down shift. Without letting go of the shift button, put the Grim Reaper back down and you should be holding a clone of your Grim Reaper. Then place him where you want him. Plea to the real grim reaper to save your loved one. You better hope that they love them as much as you think they do otherwise your sim is gone! You can also kill a neighbour walking past. But sometimes it will still be one of your other Sims from a different family so be careful there. Note: You cannot control the grim reaper, but it is still really fun and like I made two of them and put them as statues at my Sims house.
  7. Refill the fridge fast by using the boolprop cheat. Type in move_objects on in the house view. Hold down the "Shift" key and click on the refrigerator. Click on "Restock". Your fridge will be completely full again.
  8. Give your Sim a makeover. Get the Dr. Vu's Automatched Cosmetic Surgeon career reward to re-make your Sim's face. (To get this reward quickly, hold ctrl+c+shift and type unlockCareerRewards into the cheat box.) Then make your Sim go up to the mirror and click 'Change Appearance' to change your Sims hair, make-up and facial hair. Then go to the wardrobe, click 'Plan Outfits'. (You can go to the tailors to get new outfits.) Then type boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true into the cheat box, hold shift and click on your Sim. Click 'Set Aspiration' and choose a new aspiration. Then click on where you want their Sim's personality to be and what their interests to be and ta-da you have a whole new Sim!
  9. Sims can be invisible, but alive. You type in "boolproptestingcheatsenabled true" without the marks into the cheat box. Then hold shift and click on a certain Sim. Then click Rodney's creator. Then click on die by flies. Make a teenage Sim who is not related to the sim beg the grim reaper. After the Grim Reaper goes, click some other way of dying. Have the teenage Sim beg for them again. When the Grim Reaper begins to go away, click die by fire. And because it is so fast, the Grim Reaper won't come back and they will dissapear! You can't take care of them any more, but if you go out to neighborhood view and look at the family photo, they will still be there!
  10. Get a A+ report card. Hold SHIFT and click on the mail box go on more make sure you have your child selected then you should see something that says Kid gets A+ report card click on that then the school bus should come past and not stop then your kid SHOULD have a A+ report card.
  11. OR you can move objects on. Click on the child's homework and move it so that it is back into their hands after they have laid it down (if you don't catch them right after school they usually lay it down next to the computer desks, if you don't have a desk it should be in their bedrooms). Once the homework is back in their hands, make the do another option that involves picking up. Cleaning, painting are usually good options. Then, the homework will disappear and you won't have to make the child study anymore. The grades will go up per day just like you were making them do their homework. The only downfall is that you have to do this every day, but it's the easiest way in my opinion. Especially since the children have a low FUN gauge after they've been at school all day and it's hard to make them do their homework.
  12. If you want to raise their moods use Ctrl + SHIFT + c and type "maxmotives" in the cheat box and it will raise all the meters of moods for every one in the household.

Love

  1. To get sims naked use the Nude Cheat. This is an easy method to create nude Sims.
  2. Get engaged or married teenagers. Use the boolprop cheat. Hold the "Shift" key and click on a Sim. Choose "Spawn" and click on "Sim Modder". Turn them into an adult. Repeat this for the other teen you want to get married. Then get them to fall in love and get married (you can do this quickly by shift-clicking the mailbox, clicking "set pregnancy relationships with" and clicking on the desired Sim's name). Then use the Sim Modder to turn them back into a teenager or a kid or a toddler, and they will still be married.
  3. Woo-hoo in public by using the boolprop cheat. Drag the lifetime and daily relationship meter up to 100 on 2 different Sims. Drag the outgoing meter up to 10 and click try on clothing at a clothing store. Have the Sim choose "woohoo" and have them go in the changing room with the other Sim.

Money

Type in these cheats as much as you like. The familyFunds cheat overrules the two others.
  1. Gain $1,000 by typing in kaching.
  2. Gain $50,000 by typing in motherlode.
  3. Gain as much as $999,999 by typing in familyFunds [insert family name here] [amount].

  2. Rotate your furniture 45 degrees by typing in boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation (true/false). You must have Sims 2 University to do this cheat.

Pregnancy

  1. Get twins, triplets, quads by typing in either forcetwins, forcetriplets, or quadforce for the amount of babies you want.
  2. Get an alien baby by using the boolprop cheat. (You must be playing the Sim you want pregnant). Hold down the "Shift" key, click on the Sim, and click on "Spawn". Choose the "Tombstone of L and D". After the tombstone appears, there will be an option that says "make pregnant with alien baby".
    • To get an alien baby without cheating, a male family member must be abducted by aliens. When the male comes back down, they will be pregnant and an alien Sim will be born.
  3. Make a pregnant Sim wear everyday clothing. Go into the neighborhood view and type in the boolprop cheat. Go to the families house. Hold down the "Shift" key, click on the pregnant Sim, and click on "Spawn". Choose the "Rodney's Clothing Tester" and a clothing rack should appear. Click on the clothing rack and select "Force Redress".
  4. Have a higher success chance of pregnancy by having the male as the selected character and have him click on the woman to try for a baby.
  5. Adopt a baby that looks like your sim. Make another family, including a toddler that looks like your other sim/sims. Then abuse it. Tip: (Do not make ANY of the sims in the family have a family aspiration.) The social worker will soon come and take it. Then go to the family you want to receive the baby. Adopt a baby and it will be the one created to look like your sim.
  6. Also if you want to same gender sims to have a baby, rather than adopting you can use the bool prop cheat. You must be careful with this cheat, do not leave it on your game too long because it has been known to cause crashes. The first thing you want to do is bring up the cheat box and enter boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true. Then if you click the sim you would like to get pregnant and while holding shift you will be able to click the option spawn. Once you click spawn continue clicking more till you see an option that says to generate a genetic combination with and choose the other member. To turn off the bool prop change the true to false.

Vampires

  1. Get rid of vampires. Get a Vampire-Fearless Sim to pick up the phone and go to "Manage Groups".
  2. Then create your group and name them "The Vampires".
  3. Put ALL Vampires in the town in the group, and include yourself in it.
  4. Wait till night falls.
  5. Then pick up the phone again and go to "Invite Group Over" and go to "Just For Fun". When you have the message that they are coming, pick up the phone, go to Service and ask for the Gypsy Matchmaker to come over.
    • Pretty soon, both Vampires and Matchmaker will arrive.
  6. Use the boolprop cheat and make each vampire selectable by holding down shift, clicking on each one, and pressing "Make selectable" Once they are all selectable you can do one of two things. Either send one up to the gypsy and purchase the vamprocillin-D (make sure to get enough for all the vampires on the lot.)
  7. Then give each vampire a gift, select the vamprocillin-D. Then one by one have them drink the vamprocillin-D. Or you can do it one by one and have each vampire go up to the gypsy and purchase their own.
  8. To get them to leave simply shift click and make each unselectable, then go back to the main Sim you created/are playing and do say goodbye too. and click everyone.
  9. Don't forget to dismiss the gypsy.

How to Memorize Sheet Music

Learn to memorize your music so you don't need to read off the stand!
Whether you're in a rock band, marching band, or your band teacher just requires it, memorizing music is an important skill. You never see professional musicians reading off of sheet music for music they made! How do musicians memorize their music? Look no further.

  1. Practice the music. You obviously won't be able to memorize your music when you don't even know how to play it!
  2. Recognize phrases. This will not only give you a better understanding of the music, but when it comes time to actually start memorizing it, it will be easier to divide it up. Most phrases are four to eight bars.
  3. Begin repeating the first part of the song. The length of this section depends on how well you know your memory to have been in the past; if you know you remember things well, extend the length, but if you're forgetful, make it shorter, even if it's just a phrase or two. Keep reading off the music at this point.
  4. Play it once without looking at the music. Play it from memory. It should be in your head, since you were repeating it over and over. Stumble through to the end, even if you forget a few notes.
  5. Look at the music again. Find what you did right and what you did wrong. If you need to, play something that you missed.
  6. Play it again without looking at the music. Keep playing from memory and reviewing how you did, until you can play the music from memory five times in a row.
  7. Move onto a different chunk. This will, again, depend on your memory. Repeat the process you used with the first chunk, but play this chunk by itself.
  8. Link the two chunks together. Play from measure one to however far you memorized. Keep repeating this until you can play it from memory five times in a row.
  9. Continue this process until you have memorized the song.
  10. Another way to memorize music is to start at the end and play the last mesure, play it by memory, go on to the second to last mesure, and repeat the process till you can play the whole song.

Tips

  • Keep doing this for as long as you need the music memorized. Unless you're constantly playing it from memory, a lot of people will find it easy to forget after a few weeks of not playing it.
  • Listen to other people in your band. Knowing how your part fits in with other parts will help you remember what to play.
  • If you're in marching band, know where your part fits in with the drill. This can also help you remember your part.
  • Ask others for help if you need it. If you have a section leader, ask them for tips as well.
  • Look for patterns in the music. Sometimes, phrases are just a part of a scale or part of the same chord. Use this to your advantage.
  • If you're trying to memorize something for the first time, give yourself plenty of practice time before your performance. Once you figure out about how long it takes you to memorize a piece, you can base it on that.

Warnings

  • This will not happen overnight. It requires lots of practicing and performing to be able to fully memorize it.
  • Remain calm and focused if learning this doesn't happen as soon as you want. If you find yourself getting frustrated, go away and do something else for awhile and come back to a fresh start. Getting frustrated at how many mistakes you make will only cause you to make more mistakes.
  • Be positive and patient; just because someone else can memorize music faster than you does not mean you cannot master it also, it just means you need more time. Some people are better at memorizing music than others.
  • Avoid bragging about how fast you can memorize music. That is not only impolite but it is also boring to others.
  • For marching music, it is likely that you will play it a lot during band and marching camp. If this is the case, it may not take too much effort to memorize it. However it may be extremely difficult for people to learn music that don't have a past in music. But, always practice extra on parts you don't know, and don't show off if you get it right away. You don't want to be the one to think you know it and then be clueless on parade/football game day!

How to Rescue Someone Who Has Fallen Through Ice

This is an emergency guide designed to quickly give you information you need to help you assist someone who falls through ice into water. Other wikiHow articles provide more detailed information on assessing the safety of ice and surviving a fall through ice on your own.
  1. Remain calm and do not run out onto the ice. Would-be rescuers frequently become victims when they fall through the ice as well. You should avoid approaching the hole in the ice unless the victim is unconscious or in imminent danger of slipping into the water and drowning, either from weakness or an inability to swim.
  2. Call for help. Dial your country's emergency number (911 in the U.S./Canada, 999 in the UK, 112 from other European areas and mobiles in Europe), or your local emergency dispatcher to have trained rescuers/paramedics sent to the scene.
  3. Try to talk the victim out. If the victim just fell in and remains conscious, he or she can most likely get out without physical assistance.
    • Tell the victim to calm down. Reassure the person that you know what to do and that you will come to them if necessary. Let them know, truthfully, that as long as they stay afloat, they have plenty of time. They'll experience a "cold shock" for the first 1-3 minutes, during which they'll hyperventilate, so the important thing is for the person to keep their head above water.
    • Encourage the victim to control their breathing. They will most likely be hyperventilating. Advise them to take deep, slow breaths through pursed lips.
    • Tell the person to swim to the edge of the ice and use their elbows to lift themselves partially out of the water. Have them go to the edge of the ice where they were coming from, since it held their weight up until that point, whereas the ice around the other edges might be weak. The weight of their wet clothes will probably make it impossible for them to lift themselves up out of the water--the main objective is for them to just get a grip on the edge of the ice, so don't let them waste energy trying to pull themselves out. If they have any keys or sharp objects to use as picks, encourage them to use them, or if you have them, slide them to the victim.
    • Instruct them to kick their legs and to try to get as horizontal as possible while using their upper body to drag themselves out. They should kick their legs as they would if they were swimming and come out of the hole in a horizontal position (belly against the ice).
    • Once they are out of the water, advise them to roll away from the hole to avoid breaking the ice again. Don't let them stand up or get on their knees, as that could break the ice.
  4. Throw the person a line if they are unable to get out of the water on their own.
    • Get a rope, extension cord (unplugged), or any other sort of strong line that you can find.
    • Since the victim's cold hands may not be able to grip the line, tie a loop (not a slip knot—preferably a bowline knot) at the end of the rope and tell them to put their arms through the loop and then bend their arms to touch their shoulders so that the rope is inside the bend of their elbows. Alternatively, they can put the loop over their head and slide it down under their arms.
    • If you can't find a line, extend the victim anything that can they can grab on to, such as a long, sturdy branch or a hockey stick.
    • Remain at a safe distance from the weak ice, and keep a strong grip on the rope or object.
    • Pull the victim out.
  5. Perform CPR if necessary. If the victim has stopped breathing or has no pulse, either from drowning or from sudden cardiac arrest, perform CPR (only if you know how).
  6. Warm the victim. If the victim is breathing and conscious, bring him or her inside or somewhere warm. Remove wet clothes and immerse the person in lukewarm water that's no warmer than 90° Fahrenheit, 32° Celsius at first; gradually warm the water up later. Immersing a victim of hypothermia in water that is too warm can cause dangerous heart rhythms. If warm water is not immediately available, wrap the person in blankets.
  7. Get medical attention as soon as possible. Even if the victim feels fine, he or she should still be examined by a medical professional.

Tips

  • Use a flat-bottomed boat out if you must go out to the victim. Professional rescuers have a variety of tools to safely aid in ice rescues, but if you don't have these things available, a flat bottomed boat can also be slid out on the ice. If the ice breaks around the rescuer, the rescue can further proceed from the boat.
  • Try sliding a ladder towards the victim by spreading your weight over a large surface. If you must approach, always spread your weight as much as possible. At minimum, crawl on your belly -- never walk.
  • An ice awl or similar sharp device can help you move about on the ice and secure yourself during the rescue attempt. If you can throw the victim such a tool, he or she may be able to more easily extricate themselves from the water.
  • Many popular skating or ice fishing areas have emergency rescue kits, including rope and buoyancy aids, available.
  • Infants and toddlers who fall into frigid water may go into a diving response, in which they may appear dead even though they are not.
  • Your own clothes could serve as a line if all else fails (yes, it means you'll have to tolerate the bitter cold for a few minutes, for the sake of saving the person in distress...) If you wear a sweater, or some other item not as bulky as overcoat, attempt to use it first. Tie a knot at the end of each sleeve, hold on to one and throw the other to the victim.

Warnings

  • Never go close to the thin ice without being secured or having proper gear for the task. Remain calm and resist the impulse to approach the victim without protecting yourself. A person in decent shape will usually maintain the strength and coordination to extricate themselves for 2-5 minutes, sometimes longer. Even after this, if a person remains conscious and can hold themselves partially out of the water, hypothermia is not a major concern, so wait for professional rescuers to arrive unless there is imminent danger of drowning.
  • Do not warm the victim up too quickly. This will cause shock which can be deadly.

How to Stay Warm During Winter Outdoor Activities

Here are a few useful tips that will allow you to enjoy outdoor activities while maintaining a safe and comfortable body temperature during the winter season.

Ingredients

  • Skiing
  • Snow-shoeing
  • Hiking
  • Camping / Backpacking
  • Pantyhose

Steps

  1. Avoid wearing cotton! Cotton traps moisture against your skin. Through convection, cold air and moisture work together to replace the heat that your body generates with cold energy. Use polypropylene or another synthetic material that is advertised to wick the moisture away from your skin.
  2. Remember to layer up! This refers to the way you dress. Start with soft layers against the skin and finish with a nylon material that will challenge wind and rain, such as Gore-tex®. The idea is that as the temperature changes, you can add or remove clothing that will keep you just warm enough.
  3. Eat for the trip. Your body will generate heat as it burns the fuel you have fed it. Eat foods that are high in fat content and calories. Remember that a calorie is actually a unit of measure that measures heat! Warm foods and hot drinks will really warm the soul on a cold day.
  4. Drink liquids. when it is below freezing the air will draw moisture out of you. If you are dehydrated it is harder for you body to keep you warm
  5. Wear a Hat and Gloves. If your feet are cold put a hat on. Your body will close off circulation to your fingers and feet if you head gets cold. Your head will not feel cold but your feet will,l by putting on a hat you will warm up your head and the circulation will return to your cold feet warming them up.

Tips

  • If you stop your aerobic activity for a break, go ahead and put another layer on immediately so that you don't get cold. Stay ahead of the game!
  • Keep moving! As you body works, it generates heat as a byproduct. Use those layers to keep the heat. Much of your body head is circulated via the blood stream. Wiggle those toes and fingers to get heat there, too.
  • If you can't seem to get your toes to stay warm and you aren't out for too long, try rubbing a little cayenne pepper on them. You feet will feel warm, but remember, they are actually cold and tissue damage (frostbite) may occur with prolonged exposure to cold conditions.
  • If you are spending the night in the cold, try boiling water and putting it into a secure water bottle wrapped in a sock. Go ahead and throw the water bottle(s) in your sleeping bag while you sleep in the tent.
  • If you are really having trouble staying warm and have chemical heat packs or warm water bottles, place them under your arm pits or on the inside of your upper thighs. These are areas where your arteries are close to the surface of your skin and your blood can gain a little extra heat to circulate.
  • Wear at hat! So much of your body heat can be lost from your head. Maybe you can find one with fuzzy ear flaps!
  • In your layers, wear long johns or underarmor. This will help you keep the heat near your body

Warnings

  • This guide is intended for individuals who plan on participating in activities that may be distant from warm areas or climate controlled facilities. If you have any doubts about your skill level in the outdoors by staying warm, safe, fed and alive, you should seek proper training from a skilled individual.
  • If you are in snowy conditions, remember to wear sunscreen. The white snow surface will reflect the sun's energy and provide more than you are used to. (Remember to apply UNDER your chin and IN your nose. Trust Me.)
  • If you are too warm, you will sweat. Sweating will add too much moisture and then you’ll get really cold!
  • Know and become familiar with signs and symptoms or hypothermia. Know when to call it quits and go inside. The first sign of hypothermia is "stupidity" when your brain gets cold it doesn't work as well as normal. For example a person with mild hypothermia when asked if they will be warmer if they zip their coat up will say no, or if asked what 3 + 4 = will have to think hard about it. Some of the other signs of hypothermia are Confusion or sleepiness, slowed, slurred speech, shallow breathing, week pulse, low blood pressure, a change in behavior during cold weather, excess shivering or stopped shivering, stiffness in arms or legs, and poor coordination.
  • Do not consume alcohol in an attempt to "warm up". Alcohol lowers your body temperature.

How to Keep Your Hands Soft During the Winter Time

It's time for Winter to arrive! Those dry, cracked, and hurting hands aren't feeling so great and getting you no where.
Here are great ways to get them soft again:
  1. Once you're awake in the morning, apply a generous amount of Vaseline or any type of moisturizing hand cream or lotion. Mostly on the dry area's, such as your knuckles, your fingertips and in between your thumb and index finger.
  2. Gloves. Gloves are great accessories when Winter arrives. After you've applied lotion, whether your going out to work or to school; always wear gloves. Leather gloves are more reliable than cotton or polyester gloves, though anything covering your hands during the cold season will work.
  3. Bring lotion with you! A small bottle of lotion is always handy when you're at work or at school and feeling the irritation and burning sensation of your cracked skin. The unscented kind are probably better off than the floral, fruity (they leave a bit of a distraction) ones when you're out in public. May i recommend Aveeno?
  4. Before Bed, take some of the same body lotion (unscented, scented - doesn't matter) and apply it over the dry areas of your hands, elbows, wrists, feet. Make sure you're especially applying the lotion over your hands and knuckles until they feel somewhat smooth. (The process isn't quick.)
  5. (Ignore this step if your hands aren't severely dry) Night Time. Right before bed (and after you've applied lotion) apply some Vaseline or any brand of Petroleum jelly all over the dry areas of your hands. Those cotton gloves come in handy during this step! Carefully slip on the cotton gloves (the ones at the dollar store/any cheap ones are fine) and make sure the jelly is secure inside the gloves. Now, it may feel uncomfortable but it works. Sleep with the gloves on throughout the entire night. This is the only way your skin will have the time to heal without any distraction and keep soft during the entire night.
  6. Repeat, and good luck.

Tips
  • Always wear warm clothes when leaving the house. You want your body to stay as warm as possible.
  • If you don't own a pair of gloves, wear shirts with extra long sleeves to cover your hands.
  • Don't share gloves with your friends. People can't help but sneeze into their hands. You wouldn't want to be getting the cold.
  • When applying lotion, sometimes less is more.
  • When applying lotion, your hands may feel too slippery to turn door knob, any spare towel or paper towel would help.
  • Keep your nails unpainted. If your hands are really dry and you don't want to wear gloves. Try to keep them unnoticed.
Warning

  • Your hands may be too sensitive for certain types of lotions, mostly smelly lotions. Vaseline is the better alternative for this issue.
Thing you'll be need

  • Gloves
  • Body lotion
  • Hand lotion
  • Vaseline
  • Small travel size bottle of lotion

How to Be More Attractive to Men

It isn't very hard to be attractive to men. A lot of the same principles that you like in men apply to you being attractive to them. There are a few easy things that most down-to-earth, attractive men look for in their women.
  1. Groom yourself well. It is important that a woman grooms her body well. Shave your legs and armpits regularly, probably more private areas as well (however this is specific to the man who you are trying to attract, some guys like slightly different hair cuts downtown). Take showers daily, using feminine smelling products. Make sure your skin and face are soft, smooth, and free of blemishes (proactive and moisturizing lotions work). A lot of women focus on tanning or going to the tanning salon, however, the color of a girl's skin is not what attracts most guys, it is the touch.
  2. Use nice perfume. Nothing drives a guy wild like a good smelling girl. Do not over do it though. Just wear a light amount of a perfume that you like the scent of so that the guy can smell it when he is close to you. You do not want to wear so much that everyone can smell you when you walk into the room.
  3. Work out. You like your guys fit right? Well surprise surprise, guy like their girls fit as well. Not only is being fit good for your appearance it is also good for your health. Girls might want to focus more on endurance and toning, not building muscle. Guys like trim, toned, slender girls. Being too skinny can be a turn off. Just do light muscle toning exercises for your legs, core, and arms. Several reps with a lower weight tones muscle without building much mass. Then do a good amount of cardio, like half hour to hour of treadmill or bike or elliptical. Go to the gym every day if you can, but at least 3 times a week. Get outside and get active. This will help you stay in shape and is good for psychological health as well. This is also attractive to guys; guys like a girl who knows how to have a good time.
  4. Dress well. Slutty and sexy are two very different things. No respectable guy likes a girl who dresses slutty. G stings should be reserved for strippers. Do not allow your bra to stick out of your shirt. A little cleavage is not a bad thing if you want to catch a guy's attention, but if you have more boob out of the shirt than in that sends a completely different message. However underwear is very important. Sexy underwear is very hot to any man. Pretty much any underwear that is form-fitting and feminine is attractive. The best kinds of underwear are boy-shorts, panties or bikini cut and conservative thongs. Nothing too crazy with four different kinds of strings and extravagant lace, this just gets distracting and takes away from your naturally beautiful feminine form. As far as the clothes you wear over the underwear, it is largely opinion-based as to what a guy likes. It is not bad to have a bit of your own unique style, but nothing crazy. Tighter clothes are generally more attractive. A nice pair of tight jeans, and a simple form fitting top is a killer combination. Simpler is usually better, however woman have a plethora of amazing clothng items out there so do not be afraid to mix it up. As long as the body the clothes are on is in shape, most styles will look good and define you as a person.
  5. Be friendly and smile. Guys like a girl that they can have a good conversation and laugh with. Be outgoing but not boisterous. The same kind of charm you are attracted to in successful, confident, down to earth guys, are what guys are attracted to in women; you just need to add your feminine touch to it.
  6. Be yourself. Once you have the look and style you are comfortable and confident with, just remember to be down to earth, honest, and have fun. That is why you are in this game right, to have fun and be happy? If you try to adopt a style or attitude to impress someone, they will eventually see through it because you will be constantly maintaining a persona, and they will see you as a weak individual. You must be happy and confident (but not cocky) with who you are because there are plenty of great guys out there who will like you for your personality, and in turn you will both be much happier.

Warnings

  • Do not wear too much makeup. Guys do not want a girl whose face looks like it has been painted on or she was raised by raccoons. A little bit of makeup is not a bad thing but do not over do it. A lot of guys like natural beauty over fake Hollywood glamor.

How to Communicate With Older Adults

Whether you are visiting a grandparent or you are a social worker who deals with older adults from time to time, age-related health problems can present a barrier to effective communication. Chronic conditions, such as dementia and hearing loss, as well as the effects of medication can complicate conversations and understanding. During periods of diminished lucidity, interactions can create a frustrating and seemingly helpless experience. However, there are techniques you can use to help facilitate interaction with older adults to create a communication-friendly environment.

  1. Be aware of the person's health issues. Older adults may have health problems that add difficulty to speaking and understanding. Be sure you consider the person's health before you engage in communication. For example, they may have hearing problems, speech problems, and memory loss. These factors complicate communication. And remember, chronological age is not always a true indicator of a person’s health.
  2. Be attentive to the environment in which you are communicating. Be sure to evaluate the environment in which you are communicating, which might have an effect on hearing and speech problems. Is there any disturbing background noise? Are many people speaking in the same room? Is there any intrusive music? Are there any distractions that could affect your communication? Ask the older adult if the environment is comfortable for them. If you sense any disturbance, try to move to a more peaceful and quiet location.
  3. Speak clearly and articulately, and make eye contact. Older adults may have trouble hearing. It is important to articulate your words and speak clearly. Direct your speech at the individual's face -- not to their side. Do not eat your words: move your mouth and pronounce each word carefully and precisely. When your tongue “dances” inside your mouth when you talk, you articulate more clearly. If your tongue “sleeps” and plays a passive role, you are more likely not articulating as well as you could.
  4. Adjust your volume appropriately. There is a difference between enunciating and talking loudly. Learn to adapt your voice to the needs of the individual. Evaluate the the environment and how it relates to the person’s hearing abilities. Don't shout simply because the listener is older. Treat the individual with respect by articulating and speaking at a comfortable volume that is suitable for both of you.
  5. Use clear and precise questions and sentences. Do not hesitate to repeat or rephrase your sentences and questions if you sense there is an absence of comprehension. Complicated questions and sentences may confuse older adults who have short-term memory or hearing loss. Clear and precise constructions are easier to comprehend.

    • Use direct questions: "Did you have soup for lunch?" "Did you have salad for lunch?" Instead of: "What did you have for lunch?" The more precise you are in your language, the less difficulty the elderly have in understanding.
    • Reduce the "noise" in your sentences and questions. Limit your sentences and questions to 20 words or less. Don't use slang or filler words and phrases. ("Like," "well," and "you know" are a few examples.) Keep your sentences brief and direct to the point.
    • Avoid the confusion of mixed ideas and questions. Try to define your ideas and questions logically. If you mix ideas, it may be confusing for the older adult to understand. Express one idea and message at a time. For example, "It is a good idea to call John, your brother. Later, we can call Susan, your sister." A more complicated construction would be: "I think we should call your brother, John, first, and then later we could call your sister, Susan.
  6. Employ visual aids, if possible. If an older adult has a hearing or memory problem, it is important to be creative. Visual aids help. Show the individual what or who you are talking about. For example, it may be better to say, "Is there any pain in your back (pointing to the person’s back or your back)? Is there any pain in your stomach (pointing to the person’s stomach or your stomach)?" instead of simply asking "Do you have any pain or discomfort?"
